Pain Resources Network is a nationwide company that was established in 2000 in order to meet the growing demands of providing compassionate pain and symptom management to patients experiencing discomfort from acute, chronic, and/or end-of-life conditions. Founded by pain and palliative care expert Cathy Schutt, APRN-BC, CHPN, RN-BC, Pain Resources Network specializes in helping the professional interdisciplinary healthcare team develop the assessment and treatment skills necessary to administer prescribed and appropriate pain care to patients expressing varying types and degrees of symptoms.
Based just north of Boston, Massachusetts, Pain Resources Network draws upon the latest medical research and proven protocols to provide healthcare administrators and clinicians with practical, easy-to-use training systems and tools for complying with Joint Commission pain and symptom management standards. Pain Resources Network uses a three-pronged approach in helping staff and organizations achieve excellence in pain management:
- Upgrade the pain assessment and treatment skills of all involved healthcare providers and prepare generalist nurses for taking the ANCC Pain Management Certification Exam
- Provide on-site training and supervision to foster the effective integration of pain and palliative care systems throughout a healthcare setting
- Develop standardized manuals and materials to be used as fundamental care-giving guides by every member of an organization’s interdisciplinary pain management team
Pain Resources Network understands the day-to-day needs of healthcare administrators, nurse educators, direct care providers and their patients. The company’s services and products are all designed to help organizations achieve favorable pain relief outcomes, comply with regulatory standards, achieve accreditation, maintain necessary licenses and certifications, and continuously improve the quality of care delivered to patients with uncontrolled pain and symptoms every day.
